“Hope is a journey that connects strangers across oceans and continents.”
— From the novel
When an Iraqi family is forced to flee their home in Mosul, they cannot bear to leave behind their beloved white cat, Kunkush. Carrying him in a basket across thousands of miles by car, foot, and boat, tragedy strikes on the Greek island of Lesbos when Kunkush escapes his carrier in the chaos.
Heartbroken, the family is forced to travel on to safety in Europe. But compassionate aid workers and volunteers launch a worldwide social media campaign to rescue the cat and reunite him with the family that loved him.
